Tomorrow is Mother's day, so I decided that today, while my mother was out getting her hair done, I'd clean the entire house. It was a lot more work than I had expected it to be...But in the end it was very worth it. The house looks great! Tomorrow, mom and dad will go out together and I'll stay home doing something or other. Mom wanted me to spend the day with her since I've been out of the country for the past few Mother's days, but I really want my parents to finally have a Mother's day on their own to go do couple-stuff.

I gave mom her present early. My mom loves Disney, so I've always made sure to give her different Disney items for Mother's day. Last year, I gave her a Minnie/Mickey mug set (Which she still hasn't used! She only puts them on her collection shelf!). This year, I got her a Lion King snow globe.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MAMI~♥ ♥

I saw the globe when R and I went to see the Lion King Broadway musical while in New York, although I had thought it was perfect for my mom, I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to actually buy it, since it was $30.00. In the end, R convinced me to buy it and he seemed pretty proud when I told him how happy mom was with it.

So. Broadway. R had been dying to see a show on Broadway and I had been dying to see the Lion King, so we got tickets as soon as we could. Each ticket was $145.00. R ended up paying for the tickets with his card, but I ended up giving him cash later. He used the cash to then take me to dinner, so I guess I still owe him?The show, for the most part, was pretty enjoyable. I had been excited to get seats so close to the stage. However, the woman in front of me was wearing this hideously large hat that blocked quite a bit of my view of the left side of the stage. Grrr.....! R offered to switch seats with me, but I didn't want him to miss out. Anyway, it was still pretty great. The music was AMAZING.

Before going to Broadway, we went to Little Italy! By now, R was confident enough in his English to do all the ordering and such himself!

We were soooo hungry for some reason, and wanted to eat right away. Little Italy and Chinatown are right next to each other, so R wanted to eat both Italian and Chinese that morning. First, we went to Little Italy and stopped at "Pellegrino," which had received an A+ in the Michelin Guidebook. The restaurant, though small, was perfect. The atmosphere was so calm and classy. The service was  beyond amazing, and the food? Dear God, the food was... I don't even have the words to describe how good it was.

We were full after sharing this three course meal, but we decided to put our second stomachs to the test. べつバラ!
R wanted to get desert at a Gelado shop we had seen on our way to Pellegrino. We ended up getting a three scoop, three flavored ice cream sundae, a hot chocolate and black coffee. Our ice cream was Cheesecake, Tiramisu and Berry.
To walk off all we had eaten, we headed to the Museum of Modern art. Since we were short on time until our show started, we split up so that each of us could see the galleries we wanted to see. I went to check out the Murakami and Picasso display, while he went to check out...I have no idea.

After the museum, we hit Broadway for the Lion King!! I wish I could have taken pictures or a short video of the actual show, but photography was prohibited. Up until the show started, attendants would pass every minute to remind people that they weren't allowed to take pictures.

July 3rd? Interesting! I assumed it fell on more or less the same day all over the world. Now a days, women always want jewelry, don't they? Lately, many commercials advertise new jewelry, clothes, facials...ect. My mom isn't so in to material things anymore.

Yeah!!! I love The Lion King. I cry every time.

Giiiiirl, I busted out laughing and then sang the rest of the song XD.
Actually, once the show finished, one girl started singing "Circle of Life," but her friend told her to shut up, then another person randomly continued and it turned in to a mini choir. It was pretty cool =D =D

I didn't even know about MOMA until my friend mentioned it to me! I'm glad he decided to make a stop there. It was a great experience.

I love love love your outfit. I love your style.

You're allowed to take photos in museums in America? That's amazing, it's not allowed here in Aus!

That Lion King snow globe looks gorgeous!

Thanks a lot! I only have style when I leave the house. If you were to come over, I'd be a hot mess! Sweat pants, large t-shirt and my hair all over the place. Lol.

I guess you can! Honestly, this was my first time ever going to a museum in the US. I had assumed we couldn't, but I saw everyone else doing it and none of the people working there said anything, so I did it as well =)
They DID say we couldn't use flash though. I guess it damages the paintings.

It really is pretty! I fell in love with it the minute I saw it =) You never get too old for snow globes =)

I literally only have one pair of sweatpants and I only wear them when I'm doing something like cleaning. Jeans all the way for me!

How cool, that's exciting. Photography of any kind is never allowed here, there's always big signs and staff members jump on your ass straight away if you even try to take a cellphone picture. It's sad, I love to remember things by looking at photographs. I know light is damaging to artworks and museums put a lot of thought into the lighting they use, so I can understand why there's the no flash rule.

I love snow globes but I don't actually own any. I saw a Titanic one at the exhibition and I am still kicking myself for not buying it, it was so pretty.

I own maybe one pair of jeans. I usually wear skirts or dresses. I have a ton of sweat pants though. Hehe. It's my secret life.

Yea, my image of how it worked at museums was more or less what you described just now. That's how I expected people to be. It's good though, that they let us take pictures. It kind of makes me want to go back. There were so many things I didn't have time to take pictures of.

I own several snow globes. I've bought one at every country I've been to. None of them are musical though =(, so I'm a little jealous of my mom's now.

A Titanic Snow globe? Was it the one here:

?

If it was, I'd kick you too! It's gorgeous!

I live in jeans! Though I'm fussy, they must be skinny jeans, they might be tight (I hate skinny jeans that aren't skinny!) and I prefer pale blue jeans. Haha secret life, that's cute ^_^

I'm extra excited to see the museums in the US now that I know I should be able to take some photos!

*cries* Yes, thats the one. I think it was musical too. It breaks my heart that I didn't buy it. I wasn't working much at the time and I had just bought a new car so I didn't want to blow too much money. Oddly enough, a week or two later I started getting heaps of work >_

Skinny jeans don't suit me. They make me look more curvy than what I actually am and it makes me self conscious.

That's how R got me to buy the globe. I'm not working now either so I really think about how I spend, but he kept telling me, "You could get hit by a cab the minute you walk about the door. Do you wanna have this regret as your last thought?! You can work one day and get this money!"

For an overweight girl, I have pretty decent legs, so I want to show off my good feature. Plus I'm tall, so my legs are long and skinny jeans seem to emphasize that.

That's usually exactly how I live my life, I can't take my money with me when I die so what's the point of letting it all just accumulate in a bank account. I figure, I work to make money so I can spend that money on things I love. Hence why almost every post of mine features something I've purchased, I'm forever buying stuff. I should have bought the globe. But I did buy other cool things, I bought a piece of Titanic coal recovered from the ocean floor and it is one of my favourite possessions.

I love The Lion King! I wish you could've taken pictures of the show too. I've been interested in it but have never(until now) heard a review. Glad you enjoyed it.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't like The Lion King? I wonder! I really don't think so, though =)

I'm positive there were people who secretly took pictures on their cellphones but I've always been one to follow rules, unfortunately. I definitely recommend going to see it if you have a chance. The music alone is amazing. It made my heart beat so fast! There are a few promotional videos on youtube that are pretty great, but in my opinion, still don't do it justice.

This video has the opening song and stills of the broadway show.

"An ugly duckling growing out of her feathers."

Hello. I'm Zia, and this is most obviously my journal. I write about my life between Japan and the US, and all the adventures I find myself in. People often say they are envious of the life I seem to live, but the truth is, I feel a little unsatisfied with it myself, so I've decided to do something about it--to find what really makes me happy. Hopefully by documenting my life, I can figure out where I need to be heading. This journal is my way of opening my world to those around me in hopes of meeting people searching for the same thing or encountering people who have already gone through this kind of struggle.

Back in my high school days, I used to be a bit of a nerd. I was really in to comic books of all kinds, action figures...all that jazz.  These days, though my interest in comic books re-surfaces every so often, I'm very much more in to things like fashion, dance, music, travel, tea, baking, writing letters, photography, animals and fitness. I'm a straight shooter--meaning I do not (or rather, can not?) lie. Keeping up with lies is too much trouble.

Anyway, there is more information about me on my profile. Feel free to take a look there or catch me on another site★
