A few steps towards the beautiful!

We took a trip to a Spanish-style garden, where they had this gorgeous bell tower. It's a shame we didn't think to pack a bentou because the weather was just perfect for a picnic! We spent the day walking around the garden, feeding fish and chasing squirrels. It would have been nice to go in to the tower, but it turns out you have to have a kind of membership in order to enter, and the membership was too expensive, so we just enjoyed it from the outside. Every half-hour, the bells would ring and play a different Christmas melody. It was quite cute!
It was built by the Dutch sometime during the 1920's in honor of the guy who had wanted to create the park in the first place.

M and I had our first major issue, which involved me just walking away for almost two hours and not talking to him for some time after that. When I did finally talk to tell him why I had gotten angry, he only snickered and said "Oh okay," which made me mad all over again.....
Sometimes it's like talking to a wall, honestly.
A friend of mine who is very in to gyaru, gave me a reddish-brownish wig as an early birthday present. Before we went out today, I put it on for her so she could see how it turned out and I was surprised at the difference. It really made me miss having chemically straightened hair as opposed to this wavy mess I now have. When my hair is straightened, it actually looks very much like the wig, give or take a few inches. Anyway, I think I'll be taking the wig and wearing it around Tokyo during my last few weeks of freedom before I before I begin working! Unless I start straightening my hair on a daily basis again.... I don't really want to do that though because I don't want to damage my hair. I need it to grow out so that my waves aren't so poofy....

Speaking of birthdays, mine is less than 10 days away and I've finally decided that I really don't want to do anything. I won't even buy myself a gift. Instead I'm going to save the money for my trip to Kawagoe (川越市) in Saitama.

I had gone once before, but at the time, I couldn't appreciate how beautiful historical settings were. I love going to places that make me feel like I've stepped back in time. I'd rather spoil myself in Kawagoe than spoil myself here =) I wonder if it's as nice as everyone says.

I think your natural hair suits you! But I understand the problem of poofy, wavy hair. Mine is exactly like that too (and about the same length as well). I used to straighten it all the time, but recently I've become to lazy to take the time to do it, so I just leave it be. That and I don't want to continue to damage my hair.
So if the hair grows out longer, the poofiness will get more tame...?

And happy (early) birthday!! ^_^

Well, that's what I've been told. My beautician told me that with hair like mine, it was better for it to be very long so that it's heavier. The weight of the hair keeps it from poofing out too badly.

Thanks!

Oh~ That makes sense! I think I'll follow that advice and see what happens~ ^_^

Hopefully it works out for you. Our hair really sucks!
I also started doing conditioner washes and my hair has been getting a bit better. It still gets poofy, but not as much.

Hopefully! Yeah it really does suck. :P
Yeah that's one thing one my aunt told me about, using lots of conditioner. I think it helps to a certain extent.

The garden and bell tower look amazing! It's a shame they charged a membership to enter.

As for M I'm not sure what to say. It could be that he's trying not to make it worse by downplaying it but I dunno. Seems like you guys need to talk.

Saving up for the trip sounds like a great idea. Just make sure you take lots of pictures. :3

It was really overwhelming being so close to the tower. I mean I just felt so tiny!

Yeah, we do. Our problem is though that his English is rather lacking and he doesn't seem to be interested in my Japanese because he feels so much cooler using English. Communication is a big issue with us.

This time, I definitely will!

[identity profile] palebold.livejournal.com 2012-10-21 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I had the same communication problem with my last boyfriend when I was trying to refresh my Spanish. His English was good enough that we could communicate but there were more complicated issues I tried to translate for him but he rarely responded to my Spanish.

And then they say they don't want us just for language practice. Ugh.
I honestly dislike it when guys do things like this.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's one of those things I've struggled with constantly with guys regardless of whether or not we were dating.

I've never been to Kawagoe, but I was close to it several times.
I will go some time in the future, though! ^-^

I really do hate how focused on clubbing I was when I first moved to Japan. For school assignments and such, we had to travel to many places. Sometimes I took tons of pictures but never bothered getting information on where exactly I was or what it was known for. Other times, I didn't even bother taking pictures.

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2012-10-21 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's a shame, but I understand.
My interests were completely different at first as well.
I didn't travel a lot, but when I did I took photos. And as I didn't go to many different places, I could remember where it was even years later.

It took a while until I got into traveling! ^-^;

Since I didn't pay attention then, names are always a blank to me, even if I'd been there before. For example, last weekend I was talking to a girl from Kobe and she had asked me if I had ever been to a place and I told her I hadn't because the name hadn't rung any bells. But when she showed me a picture, it turns out I had been there many times before. Even now, even though I know more Japanese, I'm still a little like that....

But I have a travel notebook I take with me and write everything down in until I can blog about it =)

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2012-10-22 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think a travel notebook is a great idea!

Even I have to look back at my entries to make sure I haven't been to this or that yet. In my case it's just that I've been to s many places that I don't remember all the things by hear anymore! ^-^;;;

Sometimes it's nice to revisit certain places, don't you think?

Love squirrels! When they're so close to me I can watch them for hours and hours!

I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. They always seem to get too close to me though, and I dislike it when they do.

you look great with straight hair! o:

Thanks. I like it better too.
Not that curly hair isn't nice... >.<

I love seeing your photos, I travel vicariously through your posts ;)

That bell tower is pretty amazing - just looking at the photo, and I bet it looked even ten times moreso up close.

Oh yea, definitely. We actually saw the tower from five miles away before we even got to the park--imagine that!

That garden looks stunning! <3

Thanks! It really was. I wish I thought to take a video. Aside from the sound of running water from the falls, and the sound of birds, it was so quiet!

What a different! you looks great with wave and straigh hair <333

Love photoes at the beginning of posts, they looks so cool and whole place sounds like fun!

I can just say I'm a bit of jealous of your travels <3 just a bit ;D

No way! It's a wig =)
My hair looks almost the same when it's straightened though, just darker and a little shorter ^^
Thanks!

Haha. It's important to see the world. I'll always travel!!
