Fun in the way-to-hot sun!

Since I'm trying to lose weight, I make a habit of eating home-cooked meals as opposed to eating out. During my mini-vacation with Mugen though, we ate out quite a bit and I can feel that I've put on weight, even though it doesn't show.

And it doesn't help that Mugen
gave me an awesome box of chocolates made with all sorts of unusual ingredients.

Ginger, Wasabi, Black Sesame.
Hickory Uncured Bacon, Alderwood Smoked Salt.
Mexican Ancho  & Chipotle Chillies and Ceylon Cinnamon.
Oaxacan Guajillo y Pasilla Chillies.

Photobucket

So far, I've only tried one of the Ginger, Wasabi and Black Sesame chocolates. I thought it would taste disgusting, but it actually wasn't bad at all!

Anyway, we decided to go hang out at a water park since the weather was nice and the tickets were cheap. Even though I wore SPF +50 sunblock, I still got sunburnt! Since we arrived early, we had time to get on all the rides. My favorite one was a slide where as you near the end, the tubes become transparent and you can see real dolphins swimming around you as you go down. After we got on everything, we relaxed near the pool.

Aaaah, so much fun!!

The chocolates sound fascinating. I've never found anything here quite that outlandish.

...and great photos, too. Weirdly, my photos tweaker of choice has removed their vignette effect. What do you use?

Thanks for your comment!
I've never seen chocolates of this kind until he gave them to me either. I'm going to take my time enjoying them to make sure I really absorb each flavor =)

I actually just play around with the contrast and color when I look at pictures =) I usually drop the brightness by 20, then increase the brightness by 10.

[identity profile] nightfall404.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's natural vignette? On a FujiFinepix? Remarkable. I'll check out PicMonkey- I used Picnik before it was taken over by Google, use a combination of Aviary (through the browser like Picmonkey/Picnik) and GIMP (since it allows me to do vignette) but I've still not been massively impressed with the results. Will see if Picmonkey gives me the 'quick tweak' effect that I'm after, thanks.

They're also really good quality photos. I'm always slightly surprised at what compacts are capable of these days- I'd assumed they were taken on an SLR.

I guess so? I'm not great at photography. I just snap a picture, plug the chip in my computer and mess around with the contrast and colors.
I used to use Instagram, but I got sick of it extremely fast.

An SLR is something I want to invest in. The camera I'm using now is almost 3 years old.

Im so curious to hear your grades on each of these chocolates particularly the last one as it sounds rather exotic.

Wonderful photos, love the colours.. where was this waterpark?

It's going to be a while before I get through them all. I'm taking my time enjoying them! But I'll definitely post what I think when I get through them.

Orlando! =D

I'm sure you wrote about it somewhere, but why does Mugen have the big red ** attached to the name?
kurikuribebi: (Default)

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-09-25 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I only mentioned it once before, but I do it and put it in red for those people who like to nag me about the names and nicknames I use.

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-09-26 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't had them all yet, so I can't exactly say how they are....but!! The wasabi one is..interesting. It's kind of like bitter chocolate with a bit of spice. It's...interesting.

You think he's cute? Haha. He's average for me, but thanks!

Yes! You go down the tube and when it becomes clear, they swim around you!!!

[identity profile] warriorofdream.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)

I've never heard of them either until he gave them to me. I'm sure they'll all be delicious!

Hmmm.....I wonder if we have to use special sun-block for our skin? Or maybe stronger sunblock? My friends can use the same type I use and they never burn, but I always burn, and badly!

[identity profile] warriorofdream.livejournal.com 2012-09-26 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Today we have sunny day and I covered my arms with +45 and not much but a little they burned with red color o.o at it wasn't even summer day.. just normal autumish day..

Those chocolates sound divine!

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-09-26 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
They do, don't they?

They came in a purple box without any name, so I'm not even sure how to look them up online, but it would be interesting to see what other flavors exist.

[identity profile] spiral-meter.livejournal.com 2012-09-26 02:53 am (UTC)(link)

We totally should!
What have you been doing up until now?

Haha. You can taste it? So is the bacon one any good?

[identity profile] spiral-meter.livejournal.com 2012-09-26 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm lucky enough to have a treadmill and weights, but I prefer things like dancing!

[identity profile] spiral-meter.livejournal.com 2012-09-27 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
alas, i cannot dance. unless you think of flailing around like a wounded elk dancing.

Glad you had a good time!

The flavors seem... interesting lol. I'd have to try them out, but I'm iffy on the uncured bacon flavored one. Let me know how it tastes when you've tried them! Do you know if these are chocolates are sold internationally?
kurikuribebi: (Default)

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-09-26 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a little iffy on the bacon one myself, as I don't really like bacon...
And when I say I don't really like, I mean I hate the stuff.

But I'm going to give it a shot at some point =)

My friend gave me the chocolates and I didn't ask about where they came from, so I can't say whether or not they are sold internationally, but I'm sure they can be found elsewhere and that there are even more insane flavors out there!

I love these photos! :D

The chocolates definitely sound interesting. I was surprised at how good the goya flavored chinsukos were that were in my random box from Okinawa last time.

Ah, waterparks. I envy you. Michael burns ridiculously easily so it's impossible to go to a waterpark with him and I don't really have time otherwise.

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-09-27 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Goya flavored?? I can't even begin to imagine it! ^^;;;

Yeah, it's not so fun when you burn easily...

[identity profile] 20thlvl-rogue.livejournal.com 2012-10-03 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that guy in the glasses your boyfriend?

He has a nice body. I'm currently lifting weights, and I'll be lucky if after years of lifting I'll look as good as that.
kurikuribebi: (Default)

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-10-05 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He's my...something or other lol.

He lifts weights religiously. Almost every day for a good hour.

[identity profile] 20thlvl-rogue.livejournal.com 2012-10-05 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Is he doing different muscle groups each day?

The Hodge Twins (two giant black twin bodybuilders on youtube)
say that they wait 6 days before hitting the same muscle group.

I recently started lifting dumbbells. I only work my biceps so I work out once a week or so. Sometimes I wait 8 or 9 days.

I'm a genetically weak person, so I'm not kidding when I say after a year I'll be lucky to have arms like your guy in the glasses.

I have noticed I'm making some gains though.

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-10-05 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what he does at the gym, but every time he did it where we were staying, he'd do the same exercises. That's 6 days straight.

[identity profile] 20thlvl-rogue.livejournal.com 2012-10-05 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Maybe he's training for muscle endurance.

I know when you're training for muscle hypertrophy like I am, less is more. It's 10% lifting weights and 90% eating and resting. If I did my routine everyday my biceps wouldn't have time to rebuild themselves and they'd actually become smaller from being continually broken down.
kurikuribebi: (Default)

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-10-06 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He tells me he wants to make his muscles bigger.
I usually don't ask questions because his obsession with working out freaks me out. I just let him be.

[identity profile] gavluvsga.livejournal.com 2012-10-06 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The unusual chocolate sounds interesting - I think I'd eat that too because I'm really into eating strange stuff like that.

The water park looks like one I've been to that is part of Sea World, Orlando - is that the same one you were at?
kurikuribebi: (Default)

[personal profile] kurikuribebi 2012-10-06 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I just ate a little box of it today--Wasabi. Not so bad, actually =)

I think it's part of sea world? It was called Aquatica. We kind of just drove by it and chose to head in lol.
