"An ugly duckling growing out of her feathers."
Hello. I'm Zia, and this is most obviously my journal. I write about my life between Japan and the US, and all the adventures I find myself in. People often say they are envious of the life I seem to live, but the truth is, I feel a little unsatisfied with it myself, so I've decided to do something about it--to find what really makes me happy. Hopefully by documenting my life, I can figure out where I need to be heading. This journal is my way of opening my world to those around me in hopes of meeting people searching for the same thing or encountering people who have already gone through this kind of struggle.
Back in my high school days, I used to be a bit of a nerd. I was really in to comic books of all kinds, action figures...all that jazz. These days, though my interest in comic books re-surfaces every so often, I'm very much more in to things like fashion, dance, music, travel, tea, baking, writing letters, photography, animals and fitness. I'm a straight shooter--meaning I do not (or rather, can not?) lie. Keeping up with lies is too much trouble.
Anyway, there is more information about me on my profile. Feel free to take a look there or catch me on another site★

Date: 2012-11-26 05:21 am (UTC)I've never consciously followed a style but if I am to take what people say to heart then my style has changed. Before I was told that my style was reminiscent of the "gangster style" but now I often am told that I look more "rock," "hippie," or "chic" and I'm still not too sure what they meant by the last two.

Date: 2012-11-26 02:25 pm (UTC)I'm always told that I'm a casual b-boy style. I really like the classic feminine look, though it doesn't suit me at all. I don't think people have to follow certain groups, but it is important to know what suits you!

Date: 2012-11-27 11:27 am (UTC)as sad as it is, but looks are important in this society. They say that what's inside that matters, but the truth is, if people don't like what's outside, they won't even bother to look what is inside :/
but am really happy to hear that you are pleased with the way you look~ That is something i am always envious in people, so don't ever loose that love for yourself ;D

But sometimes self confidence can make you so beautiful too.

Date: 2012-11-28 12:13 pm (UTC)agree on that! to me personally, a standard of beauty in a man or a woman is his/her self-confidence. If they are confident with themselves in what they are doing - HOLY FISH MARRY ME PLEASE 8D

For me fashion is not that important, I'm more into useful style or whatever , but slowly I try to find my own style. It's not easy because I've always love few quite oppositi things/styles.

Date: 2012-11-29 01:10 am (UTC)Maybe is because japanese people don't have natural big eyelashes... maybe that's why they think yours are fake =/!
Viva La Juicy ♥!!!!
Loved that red coat ♥!
What kind of style do you follow? Have you changed your style recently?
I liked gyaru when I was on high school. But I "graduated" to onee... Well, I am a oneegyaru in training because I will never look as stylist as those japanese girls and I cannot afford the brands they wear xDDDD! I also love mode fashion =)
I believe fashion is a way of expressing who we are without actually talking... Things "talk" so does clothes...
Agree, as we grow up, we change they way we dress. Maybe because we see things we different eyes than we used to...

Date: 2012-11-29 05:48 pm (UTC)I think normally, you're supposed to graduate from freestyle and hime gyaru once you turn I think 24 or 25 but I still see a lot of older foreign girls practice it up until their 30's. I think it's a bit weird though, and oneeguary is definitely more appropriate!
Fashion is definitely a way of expressing yourself, I think. But if the way you express yourself doesn't suit you, it causes problems, I feel.

Date: 2012-12-04 01:07 pm (UTC)I'm horrible when it comes to deciding what to wear and how to wear them. If it weren't for magazines, I'd be running around in a potato sack, I'm sure. So it helps to know what styles I want so that I can buy the appropriate magazines. Magazines in the US feature a variety of styles, but it feels like each Japanese magazine is for a specific style.
